Book Sales Show Aggressive Growth
New York, NY, June 16, 2010 – Book sales in April, as tracked by the Association of American Publishers (AAP), grew by 24.8% for the month. Year-to-date book sales have increased 11.8% versus 2009. This is great news for our industry. The growth was helped most by the Adult Hardcover and Paperback sales. Audio books and e-books also had strong growth as did Higher Education. Areas that were down were Adult Mass Market and Hardcover Children/YA. Religious books had their best month with growth of 19.3% in April. Year-to-date, the religious segment is now in the positive with growth of 1.3% compared to last year.
