Book Sales

Book Sales Show Aggressive Growth

New York, NY, June 16, 2010 – Book sales in April, as tracked by the Association of American Publishers (AAP), grew by 24.8% for the month.  Year-to-date book sales have increased 11.8% versus 2009.  This is great news for our industry.  The growth was helped most by the Adult Hardcover and Paperback sales.  Audio books and e-books also had strong growth as did Higher Education.  Areas that were down were Adult Mass Market and Hardcover Children/YA.  Religious books had their best month with growth of 19.3% in April.  Year-to-date, the religious segment is now in the positive with growth of 1.3% compared to last year.
