May 14, 2010. New York, NY. – A new study shows the use of e-reading devices will continue to grow. Boston Consulting Group (BSG) has released the findings of a new study on e-readers such as the Kindle and iPad. The study, which surveyed 13,000 consumers in 14 countries, says 50% of those surveyed plan to purchase an e-reader within three years. If this happens, it would indicate the devices have moved more main-stream. According to the survey, consumers clearly want to do more than just read with these devices. Most would prefer to buy a multipurpose device. The survey suggest that Apple’s strategy of offering a wide degree of functionality makes sense. However, mass acceptance of e-readers is not guaranteed unless the price drops to around $200. This is far below the $499 entry price of the iPad.
